This guide provides resources for Crim 427: Dynamics of Crime and Delinquency.

Information on Theories

Books may cover more than one theory.  Check the Table of Contents or the Index to find the pages covering a specific theory.  Use the same tools (table of contents, index) when using reference sources to find the pages that cover your topic.

Database Searching

If you are logging into the system from off-campus, check out the instructions for logging-on from off-campus: http://library.indstate.edu/services/distance/proxy

Search the databases for current information on policies and theories.  Books provide excellent background material but may not have up-to-date or current policy or theory implications or status.

Consider your topic and the databases useful for your searches.  If your topic is current, you may want to consider general databases like Academic Search Complete or one of the newspaper databases.  If your topic incorporates two subjects (psychology and crime), consider searching databases in both subjects.

As you research the databases, remember the requirements for your assignment.

If you have questions or need assistance, contact the librarian.
