Information Literacy Resources for Faculty: Librarians and Information Literacy (IL)

How Librarians Can Work With Faculty

Librarians can help you:

1. Evaluate your research assignment for problems students may encounter.

2. Provide resources students may find helpful for the assignment.

3. Determine when to schedule the library session.  This is critical so students can develop the research skills they need for the assignment.

4. Add the librarian to the class Canvas site.

5. We have more ideas---just ask us!!

How Librarians Can Help Your Students

There are numerous ways librarians can assist students with assignments requiring the use of library materials.  Below are three important ways librarians help students use the library resources.

1. Combat Misinformation: Librarians can provide tools to students to assist them in evaluating resources for factual information.

2. Provide the foundation for students to develop research skills usable for professional and personal needs.

3. Help students find and use library resources, including how to read scholarly articles and develop keywords for database searches.  We are familiar with our print and electronic resources; we can advise you on the best resources for the assignment and student research.

Contact your liaison librarian for more ideas on how we can help your students be successful in the library.
