ERIC serves two functions. One is to serve as an index to journals in education and related disciplines. The second function is to serve as an index to research reports, conference papers, curriculum guides, and other unpublished material. Many unpublished reports are also reproduced and distributed by ERIC.
Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) provides extensive coverage of major developments in educational research and practice. ERIC includes citations to educational journal articles and unpublished educational documents. ERIC consists of more than one million citations that originally appeared in the print Resources in Education (RIE, non-journal publications, 1966 to the present), and Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE, education journal article citations, 1969 to the present). ERIC documents are materials such as curriculum guides, research reports, and program descriptions which have almost never been published in the traditional sense, i.e., in a journal or book.
Most ERIC documents will be available online through ERIC or in the ISU Library in microfiche format. ISU may or may not have journals cited in ERIC.
The best way for the ISU community to search ERIC is via EBSCOhost. The EBSCOhost version of ERIC provides quick links to search the ISU Library catalog for journals cited in ERIC. EBSCOhost also offers links to interlibrary loan forms and the option of searching of other databases at the same time as ERIC.
ERIC is also available via the Educational Research Information Center's freely available web site. This Web site is not integrated into the ISU library subscriptions, but students may obtain a citation and then search for the full-text from amongst the ISU Library's materials or obtain it with ISU Interlibrary Loan.

ERIC is one of few databases where you can find the full set of test questions used in a study. ERIC can publish the complete test or questionnaire because government funded research requires full-access by the public. 
In 1974, ERIC started assigning Publication Types to ERIC documents. In 1979, they added them to journal articles, too. A maximum of three Publication Types are assigned per record. These may include questionnaires, tests, examinations, evaluation and measurement devices, test specifications, compilations of tests, opinion polls (instruments), assessment tools, reporting booklets, rating scales, test manuals, etc.
To search, use unique, significant words. Or try include the entire name of the instrument.
