Steps to Find Full-Text of a Book

If you have a citation and you need the full-text of a book

  1. Check the Catalog to see if the ISU Library has a print or electronic copy of your book
  2. If not, order the book using the Interlibrary Loan service (ISU faculty, staff, and students).

Books in the Catalog

To search for specific print or electronic books owned by the ISU Library, we recommend the following:

  1. Go to the ISU Library homepage at http://library.indstate.edu/
  2. On the ISU Library homepage, under the image, click the Books & More Tab
  3. Below the text box, click Classic Catalog. The Catalog window opens.
  4. Search for the book title as a Title.
              Title: gone with the wind
  5. Examine all retrieved records for your book. Read more detail about a book by clicking on the title of the record.
  6. If the book is electronic, click ISU patrons click here to access full text through Library Electronic Resources
  7. If the book is available in print, write down the Call Number and the Location (Reference, ISU Gov Docs, ISU Main Library Stacks, etc.).
  8. In the ISU Library building, go to the shelving location and use the call number to find the correct book.
  9. If you need only a section of the book, photocopy or scan the section using the (free) scanners or (fee) copiers on the First Floor.

All Print Library Books are located on the library's 2nd and 3rd Floors, except "Reference Books", "Browsing Books", TMC (Children's Books), and Special Collections.

ILL

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If ISU does not have your book, ISU students, faculty and staff should use Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

  1. Go to the ISU Library homepage at http://library.indstate.edu/
  2. At the top of the webpage, click Find.
  3. Click Interlibrary Loan.
  4. If you have used ILL before, enter your ILL Username and Password.
    1. If you have never used ILL before, you will be asked to register.
    2. After you register, you may login to the Illiad software system.
  5. Click Logon to Illiad.
  6. Under the heading New Request, select Book or Other Loan.
  7. Fill in the information and click Submit Request.

You will receive an e-mail when your bookarrives. It will tell you to pick up your book at the Circulation Desk.

ISU DISTANCE LEARNING STUDENTS: Students taking all distance learning classes (and, therefore, are assumed to not have easy access to ISU's campus) can request that Interlibrary Loan send them physical materials owned by ISU's Cunningham Memorial Library. Some materials, such as DVDs and reference materials, do not qualify.
