Using Chat Widgets

Locate the Chat widget you want to use. 

Step 1: Go into LibAnswers.  We are going to locate all the code you need to make this work. 

• Click on LibChat and go down to "Chat Widgets" on the dropdown. This will take you to a list of various chat widgets.

Step 2: Now we will choose which chat widget AND copy the code we need. I'm choosing "Librarian Chat is online"

• click on the </> highlighted in green shown below.

• You will then see the following image:
  • The top code goes in the CSS/Script area (shown in yellow)
  • The bottom code goes in the box you made. (shown in green) 
  • I'll show you in the following steps 

Now go to your LibGuide.

Step 3: Choose the location you would like your chat widget. Click on any spot where you can place a box. When the box opens, move to next step in instruction.

Step 4: When the box comes up, name it whatever you wish.

• Make sure it is a Standard box.
• And choose its location....top or bottom of the column.

Step 5:  Now that the box is made, we can add our widget code. Click on "Add/Reorder"

 Choose "Media/Widget" from the dropdown.

Step 6: Now you will need to name the widget, I'm calling this one "Ask Us!"

• Then you will paste the bottom code into this box in the "Embed Code" section.
• Then Click SAVE

We are almost there. 

Step 7: Now move to the top of your libguide and find the sun & mountain image on the right corner. As shown below.

Choose "Guide Custom JS/CSS

Paste the top code/script into the box. 

Note: When looking at the code in LibChat, the top code goes in the top CSS area and the bottom code goes into the box lower in your libguide.

Don't forget to refresh your page to see the change.
