Poverty: Senior Citizens

According to the AARP (2015):

  • more than 10 million seniors are at risk of going hungry
  • over 19 million older americans cannot afford safe, adequate housing
  • over 20 million seniors have trouble meeting their basic needs because of inadequate financial resources
  • nearly 8 million adults over 50 face conditions that isolate them

Seniors also can apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance [SNAP]

Lower-income older Americans can find jogs through the Senior Community Service Employment Program [SCSEP
