Library Assessment: Sampling

Guidelines to create and manage a library assessment plan

Sampling

Libraries need not test every graduating student in every program to determine if students are learning. Such assessment goals may be unrealistic and impossible to achieve. It may be appropriate to take a sample of students and expose them to observation, surveys, focus groups or some other testing method.

However, a common question is what would be an appropriate sample size to represent my student population with a reasonable expectation of accuracy?
