Start Smart: Tips for Student Success at University: Extracurricular Activities

This guide provides resources on student success at college or university.

ISU Office of Campus Life

"Campus Life has over 260 student organizations students can get involved in!  Campus Life is also home to the only programming board on campus, Union Board. Students can join to help plan and implement program."

Fraternity & Sorority Life

"The mission of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life at Indiana State University is to serve as an advocate and resource for the fraternity and sorority community. We provide our students with opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and support in their pursuit of academic excellence which adds value to the student's holistic collegiate experience."

The Importance of Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities can be an important part of your life as a college or university student. Involvement in campus or community activities can provide great opportunities to develop leadership and organizational skills.  Volunteering with an organization can also lead to networking opportunities, perhaps in your major.

Check out some of the opportunities to become involved at Indiana State.

Charles E. Brown African American Cultural Center

"The Charles E. Brown African American Cultural Center is responsible for developing and providing opportunities for African-American students to involve themselves in creating, innovating, designating, and deciding cultural programs relevant to them. It is further responsible for promoting positive identification, association, and relationship to African-American historical and contemporary culture. The Charles E. Brown African American Cultural Center creates a learning environment conducive for students, administrators, faculty members, and citizens of the Terre Haute community to understand, recognize, and appreciate the contributions made by African-American people."

Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation offers many opportunities, from intramural and club sports to fitness classes. ISU faculty, staff, and students need to show their ISU ID to use the rec center.
