Know Your IX - General Information

The August 12 edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education [available directly at http://chronicle.com/article/Quiet-No-Longer-Rape/141049/ or via the Library's Electronic Resources]: Hundreds of students and activists have formed a national movement to transform how colleges handle cases of rape—and have found an audience in Washington. Federal officials, already stepping up enforcement of antidiscrimination law, are taking a heightened interest. Includes a timeline beginning April 4, 2011 with Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Education Secretary Arne Duncan announce a set of guidelines from the Department of Education for how colleges must respond to reports of sexual assault under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
