Celebrations can be good first steps to teach students how to appreciate the diversity of American culture. The 2013/14 Diversity Calendar (printable) lists everything from World Autism Awareness Day to Cesar Chavez Day and World Indigenouse People's Day.
Heritage Awareness Months can provide time for deeper study of Women in April, LGBT in February, African American Music in June and Arab-American Heritage in April.
