The Special Collections Department of the Cunningham Memorial Library holds the University's unique physical and digital collections. Special Collections consists of three units: Rare Books & Manuscripts, University Archives, and the Permanent Art Collect

Artwork for the Classroom

Request for
Experiential Learning Opportunities

You may request PAC material for use in your ISU classes. Requests must be specific and in advance. The University Curator will transport material to and from classes. Curatorial staff will supervise the use of material during the class and may also be available to give a presentation about the artwork.

  • Artwork cannot remain in the classroom beyond the class period.
  • Artwork availability depends on condition and use of the material.

Request for access to collections or provenance records must be submitted to the University Curator, Ian Carey, and must state the purpose of the inquiry.

This service is also limited to the availability of curatorial staff.

Request for Art Installations

Art Installation for Common Areas

To request an installation of Permanent Art Collection materials in university common areas, please give at least 2 weeks notice.  Request for specific material installation will depend on the availability and condition of the material(s), as well as the availability of the Special Collections Art Curator.

Reproductions

Requests for Reproductions

Requests for Permanent Art Collection images or documents must be in writing, and all costs will be the responsibility of the applicant.ISU entities may qualify to use some images free of charge, but must still request their use.

Methods of reproduction may be limited in order to protect the originals from possible damage.

Confidential information will not be released.

Request for reproduction must be submitted to the University Curator Ian Carey and must state the purpose of the inquiry.

Research Collection

Requests to Research Collection

Anyone may request information or access to original works for legitimate research projects.

Visit the PAC Inventory to search the database of works.

Research access is limited to normal operating hours of the Special Collections Reading Room and the availability of curatorial staff to monitor access.
