Special Collections: Locating Special Collections Materials

Locating Special Collections Materials

How do I find books in Special Collections?

Our cataloged materials is located in the Fusion catalog. This link will take you to the Advanced Keyword search.

If you go to Fusion on the library main site you can go to advanced and select ISU- Special Collections. This means you will only get results within Special Collections. To narrow your search you may select a material type, such as printed material, archival material, or manuscript.

When you see results- look at the green AVAILABLE note. Next to it- it will tell you it is in Special Collections then it will tell you the name of the collection (you will need that info). Underneath is a series of letter and numbers. That is the call number. You will also need that. When requesting a book from Special Collections to read in the Reading Room ( you cannot check out items in Special Collections)- you will need title, author, call number and collection. Make sure to write down your collection information and format type, such as "oversize" and "Indiana Collection," so that we might locate the correct item for you.
