I'm going to suggest mian places for finding books for your history research materials. Books are important for this type of work because they can provide a broader, deeper context for events, people, and places than an article will. Reading them will help you develop your analytical skills.
You can search our library most efficiently using the online catalog. You'll also find a link on the library's homepage. You'll notice that the page is full of limiters. Use them as to help you get exactly what you're looking for. You can limit by date of publication, area of the library (maybe you're looking for a government doc, or a children's book), or type of material (use this if you know you want a book, an ebook, or a video).
WorldCat will help you find material from other libraries. It list a wide select of books and it's even better than Amazon because there's no financial cost to you! WorldCat will indicate if we have the item here at ISU. If we don't have it, you can request it via InterLibraryLoan.
