Comm 101 - Informative and Persuasive Speeches: Required Resources: Ref Books & Newspapers

Resources designed to support the Comm 101 research requirements Information and Persuasive Speeches and Group Presentations. Library online and print resources and reliable Internet sources are included

Online Reference Books

While you can run into electronically linked resources when searching the Online Catalog, this link allows you to find our sources by source type [directories, encyclopedias], subject area or a complete list.

Newspaper Article Databases

Several of our databases include coverage of newspaper articles, and some cover only articles from newspapers. Most articles in newspaper databases are full-text but plain text; if there was a photo or graphic in the original article, you won't be able to retrieve it. Exception: Historical New York Times. Newspaper databases tend to update daily, but do not index/include every article published in the original paper.

Newspaper Web Sites

Newspapers have their own web sites, but tend to allow free access to their articles for a very limited time, usually 1-2 weeks.
