Nursing and Allied Health: Transcultural Nursing

Primary target audience is ISU Nursing students, both on-campus and distance learners. Secondary audience includes students in Applied Medicine and Rehabilitation, Applied Health Sciences and anyone interested in researching medical/health topics.

Databases to research Culture

Almost all of the databases include sources on culture of peoples. But a few stand out for specific purposes.

Books on Health & Culture

Search the Classic Catalog to find books at the ISU Library.

A few Library Catalog search tips. You are searching *descriptions of the book*, not the full-text of the book. Therefore, it is generally recommended to do broad searches.Don't enter search words that are too specific. Don't enter too many search words.

You may try searching for your exact topic, but don't despair if you retrieve few or none. Broaden the search. A search for Hispanic AND culture AND marriage OR weddings may not be successful. But a book about Hispanic culture is very likely to include information about wedding customs, even if the description of the book in the Catalog does not mention "weddings."

Examples of a few of our books on culture are below.
