Music: NAXOS Music Library

This page is a selective guide to assist Music students with locating initial resources

NAXOS Tips

1)   Once you are logged in to Naxos Music Library, you can search for a CD. When you have chosen a disc, click on the link for the disc and the CD page will appear in a new window.

2)   From this page, in the section of command tabs above the album information box (on the left-hand side), you will see a tab that says, "Add to playlist". This is the second gray tab from the top. Select the tracks you want to add and click the "add to playlist" tab.

3)   A small window will open in which you can add the chosen track(s) to an existing playlist or to a new playlist for which you can create a new title.

 4)   Once you have added the chosen item(s) to your playlist, you can view the playlist by clicking the "Playlist" tab at the top of the Standard Search page. The playlists in your "Missouri Western State University" tab are accessible to students who visit your Naxos Music Library website, but the playlists can only be created and/or edited by professors.

NAXOS restrictions

Naxos Music Library

I am getting an error message when I try to access Naxos.

Our subscription to Naxos allows for 25 simultaneous users only. When you are finished using the database, you must logout using the red LOG OUT button at the upper right corner of the screen and close your browser before trying to open a new session of Naxos. If you try to open another session of Naxos before closing your browser, you will get an error message. If this happens, close web browser and then reopen Naxos, or clear the cache and delete the cookies in your browser and reload the page.

Naxos had logged me out and is asking me for a username and password.

Naxos has an automatic 30 minute logout. Before the 30 minute point, a window should appear on your computer asking you if you want to extend the session. The logout feature is necessary since our subscription only allows for 25 simultaneous users. If you extend your session, you can continue to listen to music.

If Naxos asks you for a password or logs you out and you want to continue using this database click the red LOG OUT button and close your browser. Then click on the resource again from any of our resource pages and start over.
