State Bird

The cardinal became Indiana's state bird in 1933.

State Flower

The peony was chosen Indiana's state flower in 1957.

State Song

The state song of Indiana is "On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away". This was written by Terre Haute native Paul Dresser in 1897 and was adapted as the state song in 1913. For the lyrics click here.  

State Tree

The tulip poplar, also known as the yellow poplar, became Indiana's state tree in 1931.
