What is the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)?

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is responsible for administering benefit programs for veterans, their families, and their survivors. In addition to their primary mission, VA carries out four specific missions to make good on their commitment to Veterans and other beneficiaries. These four other missions include: Veterans Health Care, Veterans Benefits, National Cemeteries and the Fourth Mission is to improve the Nation's preparedness for response to war, terrorism, national emergencies, and natural disasters.
